Datacall is awarded TasICT award for innovation

Datacall Telemetry was awarded the TasICT award for innovation for 2007.  The innovation award was for the redevelopment of Datacall and the subsequent launch of our new 3G cellular telemetry product - Datacall Gateway.

Phillip Tompson, Chairman of The Powercom Group accepted the award and praised the Tasmanian ICT community for their recognition of the Datacall solution that our staff have been developing over the last two years.

The Datacall Gateway is due for official product launch by January 14th 2008.

Datacall (TM) Gateway provides small to medium operators the opportunity to monitor and control their systems where traditional telemetry systems were either unavailable, or too expensive for their solutions.

Initial field trials and sales to early adopters showed increased efficiency in their operations due to saving time on performing regular duties.

The Datacall system provides a cost effective single box solution at the remote site and integrates with our gateway server. The Datacall server provides a web based graphical interface and standard web services programming interface. This allows custom graphical interfaces to be created using standard web development tools.

The Datacall Telemetry system is unique from traditional telemetry systems.
Traditional telemetry systems use either leased line dial-up or radio links to provide communications to remote locations.  Datacall uses an integrated 3G/GSM modem to provide broadband data access to remote locations.

Although data access on 3G is expensive per volume compared to fixed line broadband telemetry applications typically use very little data and the Datacall protocols are designed to be as efficient as possible. The 3G/GSM access also allows the Datacall 3G device to send urgent alarms directly to operators using SMS.
