Testimonials : Occupational Health & Safety

The Powercom Group is committed to the provision of a safe work site for its employees, contractors and visitors. Including the health and safety of staff working off-site at a clients premises.

We believe that safety is the responsibility of both management and employees and encourage everyone to report hazards and consider the safety of themselves and others when carrying out tasks and activities.

In consultation with employee elected OHS Representatives, hazards will be identified, assessed and risk control measures defined and put in place.  At regular intervals risk controls will be reassessed to ensure they continue to minimise or remove identified hazards.  An occupational health and safety committee, consisting of employer and employee representatives will meet regularly.

Policies, procedures and, where relevant, safe work instructions will be developed and maintained in order to guide and assist staff in carrying out work safely and to manage our OHS Management System.  Where necessary the health of employees will be monitored to ensure their long-term fitness.

A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) will be carried out for all staff members working off site, on a client project in an official capacity.  Staff members working on that project will be informed of the requirements of the JSA and any training needs or permits provided.

We are also committed to the rehabilitation and return to work of employees who have suffered an occupational injury.  A return to work coordinator will be nominated and an occupational rehabilitation program developed for employees who are absent for 20 days of more as a result of an injury at work.  When requested we will also develop an occupational rehabilitation program for employees injured in non-work related activities to enable them to return to work in a safe and structured manner.

Our key focus is on the continual improvement of our OHSMS and the elimination of OHS injury.
